About Heart of Jesus

  • The aging population is growing, and the need for end-of-life care services is increasing. Surveys have shown that most people would prefer to die in their own homes. Based on location, finances, and health of the family or caregiver, this is not always an option.

There are limited placement resources for faith-based, end-of-life services in our community. We are firmly rooted in Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church. We foster the belief that all life is sacred, and dying persons and their families should receive the physical and spiritual support they need to prepare them for the dying process. Heart of Jesus Home for Dying wants to fill this gap.

  • We plan to open a multiple bedroom home with a chapel, kitchen, living room, medication room, laundry room and office space. We would like to provide an outdoor patio and garden for our guests to enjoy.

  • Heart of Jesus Home for the Dying will collaborate with hospice and provide care to those with 3 months or less to live. While hospice provides case management, Heart of Jesus will provide the 24/7 care and a home to live in. Services provided will not replace, but rather extend, the ability of family to provide care.

We will provide meals, personal care, laundry, housekeeping, companionship and spiritual care. Medical care, including pain management, will be under the direction of our guest’s own physician and hospice services in accordance with contractual agreements. We will administer the medication that hospice manages.

  • We are firmly rooted in Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church. We foster the belief that all life is sacred, and dying persons and their families should receive the physical and spiritual support they need to prepare them for the dying process.

Family support is encouraged and welcomed. We collaborate with the community to provide end-of-life care to people of any religious, social or financial background. Unlike a hospice or nursing home that may sometimes feel like a hospital, our home is intended to be much like yours and mine. It is a loving home setting where death is part of a personal story rather than a medical event.

All residents, family and staff will sign an agreement to adhere to Catholic values.

  • The home and care will be provided at no charge. Operating expenses are met by the generosity of our donors.
